A Webvisions Virtual Server is built to be extremely similar to a dedicated server, with only a few subtle differences. Although, we provide full customisation to suit different server needs, we have also simplified your choices by carving out Webvisio ns' web hosting packages.

WWW Server

Your Webvisions Virtual Server comes installed with industry standard Apache (www.apache.org) Web Server. The server is also mapped with and without the "www" prefix meaning you can access your web site at http://www.yourname.com/ *or* just http://yourname.com/.

Each web server comes with many customizable options, including full use of ".htaccess" configuration file, error files, system images, mime-types.

FTP Server

Your Webvisions Virtual Server is installed with the latest NcFTP Server (www.ncftpd.com). NCFTPD is a commercial ftp server built for speed in file transfers and security. With NCFTPD and WebFTP (an inhouse developed tool), you as the administrator can c reate multiple FTP accounts to each sub-directory. Each FTP account comes with its own unique login and password. Each account is also independent of other FTP accounts and cannot see or modify what it is not supposed to access.

Your Virtual Server is also partitioned with an anonymous FTP server with your own incoming, pub, and other sub-folders. This allows you to create a large repository of files for your customers. Many of our clients use this feature to deploy their softwar e (drivers, upgrades etc) to their own customers. Each Anonymous FTP server is also unique and independent of other virtual servers. You see *ONLY* your own files.

You can access your FTP server via ftp.yourname.com and yourname.com.

POP/SMTP Mail Server

Webvisions's customized Virtual POP/SMTP Mail server provides the ability for each company to create multiple Email accounts where mail is either stored on the server (POP Account), or forwarded to your ISP mailbox (Aliases/Forwarding Account).

Together with Web.Manager, you can create multiple Email POP Accounts, Email Forwarding Accounts, Auto Responders and control all aspects of it on the fly. Set quotas, modify passwords, create *unique* POP usernames without Webvisions' intervention.

Inaddition, your Virtual Mail server is equiped with an integrated Anti Virus scanning module that includes heuristics technology which protects your emails against viruses of the worst kinds.

SSL (Secure) Server

StrongHold Secure Server is provided free with your Webvisions Virtual Server. With StrongHold, you can provide secure encryption. SSL Encryption will guarantee secure transactions over the internet without the worry over your credit card number getting stolen. In addition, PGP, an enhanced cryptology software, mostly for Email use is also fully supported.

Server Extensions

Your Webvisions Virtual Server comes installed with SSH and FTP servers. However, both virtual server services can sometimes be difficult to grasp, especially for new web hosting users. Advanced users may also prefer the simplicity and flexibility that we provide via our Web Server Extensions. Here are descriptions of each ser ver extension that we have developed or incorporated:

WebCGI is an online installer that comes with a host of ready to install CGI scripts ranging from counters to forms to Shopping Carts! - No more Pre-Installed CGI Scripts, No more hassling with simple CGI scripts, fully web-based, installable into multiple sub-directories, intelligent pre-installed version sensing.

Web.Manager is a web-based server administrative script that allows you to manage your Email & POP accounts, view server statistics, log files and more!

WebShell is a web-based file manager that provides you flexibility in managing your virtual server files via your favourite browser!

WebPass is a web-based utility that allows you to partition different segments of your web server with unique passwords & logins so that only users with the correct passwords can enter.

WebMail is a web-based mail client similar to HotMail, but integrated very tightly into your Virtual Server to provide faster access to your email via the web.

WebFTP is a web-based ftp management system. With WebFTP, you can add multiple logins to your ftp server to different unique subdirectories. Each FTP account is restricted to his subdirectories and cannot wander off. FTP accounts added are real-time and can be used immediately.

Virtual Hosting Capability

Your Webvisions standard range of Virtual Servers all support multiple virtual hosting support. This allows you to map both canonical domains as well as separate domains to each sub-directory on your Virtual Server.

For example, you can map customer.yourdomain.com, support.yourdomain.com to separate sub-directories on each virtual server. Each of these mappings can be fully controlled by yourself via Web.Manager.

For our resellers, you can also make use of this feature to map your client's domains (www.yourclient.com) to each sub-directory. This gives you an incredible edge across the competition. *MANY* providers sell virtually hosted servers for between $5 to $15 monthly. Webvisions offers two types of Virtually Hosted Domains:

Script Based VirtualHosts
A script based VirtualHost is a low end entry-level web-only system.
A $35 setup fee applies for each domain that you wish to map. Script based VirtualHosts are very suitable and cost effective for small websites with one or two webpages. Script based VirtualHost however does not come with e-mail support. It also requires the use of relative urls to reference other web pages.

There is no monthly charge for Scrtip Based VirtualHosts.
Canonical domains are totally free with no charge. (e.g. sales.yourdomain.com)

Host Based VirtualHosts
Clients may also opt to have their domains mapped as a host based VirtualHost that provides full mail & web capability for an additional $5 monthly (waived with Web Premium virtual server). Host based VirtualHosts come with a more advanced WWW server system that does away with the disadvantages of script based VirtualHosts.

Programming Tools

For the advanced users, each server also includes multiple cgi-bin directories for executing your own scripts with access to common programming languages such as PERL, AWK, TCL, GCC, C and more. The servers also support Server Side Includes (SSIs) used by many common scripts.

Server Statistics & Logs

Do you need comprehensive Web/FTP server logs and statistics? Your Webvisions Virtual Server comes installed with Wusage log analyzers as well as complete WWW server RAW logs. In addition, you also get comprehensive FTP raw logs & statistics. To top it all off, we will provide you with analyzed logs for up to 4 weeks duration.

ColdFusion & Microsoft ASP (Active Server Pages)

Do you need NT based databases like MS Access and Microsoft SQL? Webvisions provides support for powerful web-database application development tools like ColdFusion & ASP. With these tools, you can develop applications driven by NT based technogies in as little as 15 minutes. And, to top it off, even our standard Unix based Virtual Servers can make use of a ColdFusion/ASP add-on. You can have the best of both worlds this way: the use of Unix for stability and access to thousands of CGI scripts and access to MS Access/SQL databases running on NT.
